Offshore Banking Australia

There seems to be some inconsistency as far as Australians are concerned when it comes to applying for offshore bank accounts in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. There is a directive from the Australian government that forbids offshore banks from advertising their products to Australian nationals.

Interestingly, some players like Royal Bank of Scotland/NatWest have taken this to mean that NO Australian may open an offshore account with them. However the majority of institutions, freom Barclays to Nationwide International interpret the document more literally, and although they do not advertise in Australia/to Australians, they will allow Australians to open offshore bank accounts.
